Though mostly hostile and ostensibly uninhabited, Kepler 442b V does possess one nod to civilization in the form of a small settlement. Nicknamed "Neverwhere" by the collection of ne'er-do-wells who call it home, mostly temporarily, the semi-underground settlement is mostly a stopping point for smugglers and castoffs of the more civilized planets of the Alliance or even outlying worlds. Structures in the settlement are cobbled together piles of junk with extensive underground chambers, outfitted with environmental controls to ward off the inhospitable environment. Spare parts and engineering expertise are scarce commodities, and slave labor provides most of the grunt work. Neverwhere is a most wretched hive of scum and villainy, but peace is maintained by general agreement, and anyone who gets out of line quickly finds himself outnumbered and outgunned. Most folk are satisfied to keep the peace as it affords them access to safe haven and a market for ill-gotten goods.
Neverwhere is also an excellent place to pick up information for aspiring bounty hunters, which is what brings us to Sunny's Watering Hole. Sunny's is a filthy, grimy underground bar with multiple irregular chambers packed with cheap tables. It is poorly lit, stinks of body odor and all manner of unsavory vapors, and boasts the most vile alcoholic concoctions in known space. It is also the prime location to pick up information and make connections, who will undoubtedly stab you in the back at their earliest convenience.
